touring the past [living]
after dinner, we just felt like we needed a walk so i ended up giving twiddle thumbs a tour of the parks of cerritos. mainly i was showing her potential places that we could play tennis because we will start to do this on a regular basis. since i grew up being dragged to these parks by my mom to play tennis, i gave twiddle thumbs a tour of my history with these parks. when we started the tour it was just about sunset time so i wasn't able to show her a park (heritage park) that i really loved as a kid because it is only open dawn-dusk. that'll have to be next time. we went to cerritos regional park to walk around and after it got dark we drove around cerritos park east and liberty park. we also swung by my old elementary school and the park behind that, as well as where my grandparents used to live.
"this skate park wasn't here before." "i used to go down this hill all the time on my bicycle while wearing roller skates." "that fountain wasn't there before." "i used to swim at that pool and once i walked up to the high diving board and something just didn't feel right so i walked back down without jumping. that's the only time i've ever walked away from a diving board." "these are the courts that i used to take tennis lessons at." "this is the bathroom i was molested in, in fact, this is the exact stall." "this is a tiny little amphitheater but i've never seen it actually in use." "see all these table and bbqs, yeah, you could have picnics here."
