flowers on my toes [living]

for christmas, one of my aunts gave twiddle thumbs and i gift certificates to a nails place that she goes to. we finally used them! i got a pedicure by a man. i was kinda surprised at first to see a male employee there and then further surprised to see that he wasn't just helping out for the day by doing little things, he was actually doing the pedicures and manicures. i suppose at first it was strange to have a guy working on my feet but it was more like anyone working on my feet is strange--i am not a salon person. then i started to like it. i mean, if you're female, would you rather have a man or a woman grovel at your feet? ok, so i added 'grovel' in there. it sounds better.

i couldn't really understand what he was saying. not because he's not a native english speaker, but because he's a mumbler. his words were not distinct. they kinda all flowed together. i don't remember what the first question he asked was but i said 'no' to that. when he asked the second question, well i couldn't understand what he said but i didn't want to seem like pedicure novice or someone who just wants another person to clean their feet, so i said 'yes' to the second question. i didn't pay much attention to what he was doing, just read a street rag. once in awhile i glanced over because i wasn't sure if it was time to change feet and to just be aware. since i didn't have the rhythm down he knew i wasn't a regular. after he painted my toes, he brought out a little box of tools and i guess i looked at it strangely because well, i figured that was about it and he asked question #2 again and i nodded that it was ok. he then started dabbing white dots on my red toes and inside i was horrified, "what did i say 'yes' to?", but i kept quiet and waited to see what would happen. as he progressed, i realized what question #2 was, "do you want flowers?" OHHHHHHHHHH!!! he painted flowers on my big toenails! i know, very girly, very not like me. but it's pretty cool, especially that a guy did it. since i watched what he was doing, i can do it next time by myself.
