holiday! celebrate! [living]

the weekend is ending but it's not over yet. today is presidents' day so i don't have to work. let's fucking celebrate by going to universal studios! you know, 'cos we have an annual pass and all. we went there, got on the tram ride, stood in line for food, and walked out. we decided we'd have to wait too long to get food we don't really want that is overpriced and it'd be just easier to eat on city walk. and you know what?, it was. we went to the hard rock cafe first but they are overpriced so we handed back the menu and walked out. fine for me because i really think that place is boring rock cafe. we then went to buca di beppo, were pleased with the menu, and ate there. someone must've been on our side because our waiter didn't even charge us for drinks and even though it was just iced tea, i'm pretty sure you have to pay for that. in total, our food for 2 came out to the cost of one person having a burger and drink at hard rock.

after eating a late lunch, we wandered the stores of city walk. honestly, universal has improved over the years but is still so boring that browsing the stores of city walk is much more interesting than attending the park. there was a closing blowout sale at sam goody so we wandered in there. that kind of store is overpriced but if they're closing, you just might find something at a decent price and we did. i was able to buy 2 ren and stimpy season box sets on dvd for a couple dollars less than what i have seen at other stores. plus, i got "team america" and a board game for when we have our own place and game nights again. after that we decided to scram.

got home and looked at the computer with a happy face because it was finally done scanning/recovering but quickly changed to a sad face when i read the screen and realized there were errors and it didn't recover any of the files i wanted, just a few system language files. argh. ok, begin the process again! only this time i'll only recover personal files and a few applications that i downloaded and paid for so i don't have cds for them--no system files.

oh and these past two nights at the hotel in chatsworth, well i have come to realize the downside of it. it's a decent size room that's clean with a jacuzzi tub and all but the hotel is near the train tracks. the trains passed by each night and the noise wasn't so bad but last night there was an incident. the 'train coming' audio warning would not turn off. maybe it was 1am-2am or midnight-1am. it was at least 1 hour. they were on for so long that i started to block it out and when they stopped i didn't even realize it.
