has everyone gone crazy for valentine's day? [thinking]

i'm driving home from work and people the streets are crazy with psycho drivers. it's not safe! i noticed many little booths on the sides of the streets selling goods like they were fireworks stands. teddy bears, balloons, etc. even selling things in people's front yards. when did valentine's day become such a big event? when did this shit start? where the hell was i? commercialism! making guys think they have to get something. making girls treat guys this way. truth be told, i didn't buy anything at all for valentine's and if i had cash on me, i probably would've pulled over and bought something too.
