always make sure you have enough gas in the car... [living]

...even if you're just driving around the block. i'm usually on top of it. my tank gets under the 1/2 mark, i fill it up. sometimes though, i don't have time to or i get lazy about it, but i've never run out of gas. i've never been in a car that ran out--been damn close though. i thought today my story would change. i thought today would be my first time running out. i didn't have time to get gas on the way to work this morning but i seemed fine. the needle was just under the 1/4 mark. that's enough for me to go to work and get gas after. but i went home for lunch. when i got in the car, my key fell of the ring and inbetween the seat and the middle of the car. i slide my hand to reach for it and pray the key doesn't slide further to the point where i cannot retrieve the key. i am able to grab it. i must glue/tape that damn crack so my key stops slipping off the ring!

i eat lunch and i leave the house. as i drive back to work i notice that i am now extremely low on gas. the gas light flashes. i don't have time to get gas on the way to work. i have to get it after work. i park the car and realize that i don't have my purse. great! i left it in the house. i can't believe this. i have no means of paying for gas that i desperately need and on top of that i don't have any identification should i get pulled over trying to make my way home. i call twiddle thumbs and tell her to bring my purse to me after work and she does. an angel. we go to dinner right by my work and then i have her follow behind me should i run out of gas on the way to a gas station. now that my car has been sitting for so long and is cold, the needle is up higher and i have enough gas to fill-up by the house, which i think is cheaper. we pass by several gas stations. i notice the prices. i start to fill-up by the house and notice that it's much more expensive. damn, i should've filled up on the way. i only get enough gas for the next few days. later i'll go by the cheap place. hey, i'm low on funds. i have to pinch those pennies wherever i can for bigger things later on in the year.
