sour apples [geeking]

today was a mixed bag. after work we went excitedly to pickup twiddle thumbs's early christmas present (one of those new fat video ipods) that arrived--paying a little extra for faster shipping is worth it. then straight to the apple store so she could check out the accessories for her new toy and so that i could shop for some utility software to fix up my laptop. i can't remember when it was exactly, perhaps 1 month ago, that my laptop started fucking up noticeably. the cd that comes with the laptop could not fix the disc errors. i needed some pro software. a friend has such software but is too far away to come over and help out. i am too broke to buy the software to fix it. what to do, what to do. answer: wait until i get a job and a paycheck! so now's the time. i purchased diskwarrior, ran it patiently, and everything is fine now. *huge sigh* this is such a relief.

i love going to the apple store but not today because it is no longer the apple store, it is the ipod store. i swear that half the store is now devoted to ipod and related items. i know it's apple's biggest seller because it's a crossover hit but c'mon guys, stock more non-ipod stuff please. the software section is just pathetic. i bet fry's has a better selection of software for the mac platform. i have a much more enjoyable time shopping for software online but i tend to hardly ever purchase software online. it's just one of those things that i like to research online but purchase in person.

then the day ended on a sour note because i over-promised disneyland tickets. through my mom's work, there were supposed to be tons of free tickets to disneyland for a particular night. we mentioned this to very few but wanted to maximize the amount of people who are going. now my mom actually has the tickets and i started phoning around and offering tickets i didn't know that i didn't have. you see, the hype from my mom's work was huge and they didn't get that many tickets. somehow i have to secure more or let down a lot of people. i'll just have to make more phone calls tomorrow.
