catching up on my music shopping addiction [listening]
yesterday was the biggest shopping day of the year in america but i couldn't be a good little capitalist consumer because all the shit that goes on sale is crap to me. where's the big record store blowout full of world music and indie selections? since i can't easily drive up to the coolest record stores in the world (the bay area rocks!), i spent my morning looking at all music guide to read up on the discographies of bands whose music i mostly know from mainstream airplay and to get an idea of what albums i want to try out in full. then i scoured half.com and the used section of amazon.com in order to find the cheapest cds in decent condition. i didn't bother to search other used marketplaces online because i wanted to do this quickly. except for finally purchasing the siouxsie and the banshees b-sides box set, i limited my used purchases to cds under $3.00 so that way they are about $5 something when you include shipping. i may not get into these albums once they arrive but most of them have enough mainstream popularity that would allow me to easily pass on the cds i don't like, one way or another. then in the evening, i spent some time at tower records to purchase buckethead's "enter the chicken" album and to browse what has been released during this past period where i wasn't constantly feeding my music shopping addiction. i noticed that buckethead released another album this year. damn that boy puts stuff out there faster than i can earn money to purchase them.

Using allmusic.com to find related info/artists to artists you know about...mainstream, etc. is so useful. I did not realize that other people I know do this. I mean, they are quite popular and are the best source in my opinion. I have been able to collect all of my ambient artists/tracks using this site. Although, I do agree with you on one theme. Sometimes there is too much music and one does not have the means to have all that one wish's for. I hope that legal downloading becomes a bit more inexpensive than it currently is. I would also prefer for them to stop embedding faulty security mechanisms. Music Rocks!
