bummed out birthday [living]

it's never great when you have to work on your birthday but the day can still be good if you make the best out of it. i woke up and got out of bed as usual with hesitancy because i love to sleep in but i need the paychecks so off to the shower it was. when i got in my car there was a surprise: card and present. thank you twiddle thumbs for cheering me up and getting my day off to a good start. the rest of the day however was brought down lower and lower for such a stupid reason so now i'm bummed out. the night is not over yet so it can still be elevated to a good day but i don't think i've been this bummed on a birthday since 6th grade when i was new to the school and country and consequently didn't have a birthday party for the first time in my life. i made up for it the following year by having so many friends that i had two birthday parties. perhaps next year's birthday will be great. afterall, i'll be turning 30 which seems to be a milestone for others. it won't be a milestone for me. my milestone is 34. i'm gonna have a "i outlived my father" party then. except for a select few who "get" it, such a party is gonna piss off people.
