cable vs. satellite [watching]

back in santa cruz i had cable. then digital cable. my mom's house has satellite. when we had cable, there were constant commercials by the cable company praising themselves. that they were better than satellite. i doubted it. now that i'm watching satellite, it's the same deal. lots of commercials praising satellite, that it is better than cable. this has led twiddle thumbs and i to discuss cable vs. satellite lately and we have come to the conclusion that satellite sucks and cable rocks.

we had a lot more channels with cable but this could simply be the package we purchased versus whatever satellite deal my mom has. the satellite dish has to update once in awhile and we lose picture when that happens. when searching for the info of a program, one can only view the next program ahead, not hours or days ahead as we could do with cable. also, i'm not sure where we're picking up our satellite feed from but i think it must be some east coast feed because most shows seem to air at east coast times. for example, if a show says it'll air at 9pm pacific and eastern/8pm central, then it airs for us at 6pm pacific. we have to assume that it'll air 3 hours earlier than stated or else we are likely to miss it. i haven't kept notes of when this happens to see if it's all the "cable" channels or only a few but i don't think it happens at all with the local channels.
