got jacket, need shirt [living]

today we shopped for 2 hours at target which is too long for me! i gave up on the women's clothes section because they just didn't have what i was looking for and the clothes are poorly cut. ever notice that there's no arm movement with women's clothes? well, that might just be me. anyway, i looked at the men's section and they had some very nice jackets on sale. i found one that was pretty good but i had issues with it, afterall it is from target. i noticed some poor quality areas that could be improved upon but the important thing is that when i wear it, it doesn't look like drag. i could definitely pull this one off with a skirt and the right shoes. ok, maybe i'm not really a skirt person. and i never wore heels. but i found a cheap pair of very fem shoes with heels that i could actually walk in at the store as well. i'll have to spend some time practicing at home and decide if i really like these purchases or not. now i must attend to the important business: finding the perfect shirt! a long-sleeved, button up, well-fitted, dark shirt made of natural or synthetic fibers, not from animal hairs or silk.

we also looked around the household items because i'm on a quest to find a decent bagless vacuum cleaner for my mom that can extend to reach the cobwebs of her high ceilings. while we were there, we checked out the halloween items because they are already out. there were some pretty cool things but i can't have my home be one big halloween kitsch fest anymore. no more junk. need nice things and only what i need for a simple, minimalist atmosphere. first, i need to get a home so i have to get my head out of the clouds and keep to the task at hand--nice clothes to get a nice job.

while searching for another household item we are in need of, we happened upon the camping section. damn, we really did pay too much for stuff in new zealand. i had the feeling but couldn't be sure since i've never shopped for such things. the designer eddie bauer sleeping bags cost less than our kathmandu sleeping bags. ouch. the tents and other items all seemed like a good price too even though nothing really was on sale. this only confirmed to me that once we get jobs, we must make use of our newly acquired gear and camp at least once a month.
