cerritos fireworks [living]

cerritos_fireworks.jpg
burning shapes into the night

tonight we went to go see the fireworks show in cerritos and we were very lucky. we got to park in a proper parking lot right there at the park. we thought it would be impossible to find parking. we got there so late, surely all the park parking lots are full. no they weren't. everyone must have been thinking the same thing because cars dare not venture into the parking lots, how futile! we parked at 8:15pm and there were plenty of other spots at the time. i think they were all full by 8:45pm but that is pretty late. the show began at 9:00pm.

there were some booths of games and food and a stage of entertainment. i decided to try a samosa. it wasn't as spicy or as big as the ones i would get at aotea square in auckland but it was pretty good. it was just spicy enough as i'm a real spice wimp--no, not even that, i flat out hate spicy food. it is what i call american spicy. i'm sure other countries laugh at what we call spicy.

the fireworks show was pretty good. there were some new ones that i had not seen before which is mandatory for a good fireworks show. the other mandatory thing is a grand finale--lots going off at once. the more the better. there cannot be enough fireworks going off at the same time. the bigger the better and there were some pretty big ones. a few of them looked there was some sort of mishap as their peaks were very low to the ground. i tried to take pictures and some came out pretty good considering how cheap my digital camera is. there was a soundtrack along with the show of patriotic songs played by an orchestra. classy. not like the crap at the la puente fireworks show last night.

after the show was over, we were able to leave the lot and get fairly quickly. like i said, we were lucky throughout the night. quick to get there and park close, show was good and free, quick to leave and get home.
