jet lag [living]

still not used to pacific time. i need to do a couple things. i need to get my new zealand cell phone set up for american service or get a new phone/plan. i need to get a job. i'm not bothering with the phone service today. i called someone who left a message about a film internship. i don't even know if the position is still available. i only got their machine. i left a message.

i would get gas but there's no hose!

we went to trader joe's to quickly grab a few things to make lunch. i joked that i would get on my knees and hug employees when i got back to an american supermarket but i really did start to tear up at the sight of all the things i could eat and the cheap prices. out of curiosity, i went to the beers section to look for new zealand beers. damn. two of the brands i brought over were available. to rub it in, they are cheaper in america than in new zealand ($5 US for a 6 pack whereas they are $10-$12 NZ for a 6 pack). they even stock a light version that i didn't know existed--important because my mom is a light beer person. at least they didn't have all three brands. they even had export gold and lion red. i bought those even though they are probably the crappiest of all new zealand beers so as to look like we brought over more beers than we really did. they are in bottles too. we brought cans because twiddle thumbs insisted they would be lighter. i was voting for bottles but cans won out. damn trader joe's for not listing all their products online. i searched really hard in new zealand to figure out what beers are available in america and came up with nothing. i found new zealand wines so i didn't bother to buy any. now i'm thinking i should have bought mac's blonde because it has cilantro and orange. now i'm on a hunt to find it in america!
