star wars episode III [watching]

what a day! what a night! let's not talk about work. let's talk happy talk. happy happy talk, happy talk today. i can go home next month. my friend pulled through and will visit in june instead of september.

just got back from seeing star wars. this is the most important one. everything is riding on this one. i wasn't upset with episode I like so many star wars fans were. frankly, i couldn't give that much of a shit about it. it's just a movie. it's not the very definition of my childhood like it is for some. episode II, now that was a fucking joke! in this one, lucas must redeem himself or forever lose many fans. redeem himself he has. at least, he didn't fuck this one up like he did the others. a few awkward lines of dialogue but those were very few. i can never take yoda seriously anymore but i didn't laugh entirely throughout his fighting scenes as i did in episode ii. however, i've noticed that kiwis find it very hard to take temuera morrison seriously. he will forever be jake in "once were warriors". perhaps the only thing really wrong with this one is a casting mistake carried over from previous prequels. no way in hell should jimmy smits be in star wars. period.

everything that needed to get explained was explained. it all wrapped up nicely. maybe too nicely? but that is what was called for. the revelation to the jedis that chancellor palpatine is the sith leader darth sidious. (the jedi must really be blind because i think most people picked up on the foreshadowing in episode i.) the aging and deformation of darth sidious. the official death of the republic and the birth of the empire. why anakin turned to the dark side and became darth vader. a great battle between sidious and yoda. a great battle between vader and obi-wan. why c-3po doesn't remember anything about his creator anakin in episodes IV-VI. how vader went from man to machine. the pregnancy of padme. (dude! she fucked darth vader!) the birth of twins. (luke and leia, remember? i know it's been a few years.) the death of padme. the hiding of the twins. it's all there.

the transformation of anakin skywalker to darth vader is delicious. hayden christensen did an awesome job. i would have never known he was capable of it judging by episode II. i keep loving the darths. darth maul was the shit. darth vader pre-machine life support is the shit. chicks are drawn to power. hahahaaa

in conclusion, go to the theaters you must.

Dude, I'm there! I cannot wait to see this episode. I've heard nothing but good things about it. I am a little wary because I pretty much disliked the last two. We shall see!
