living in wellington [living]

i'm moved in! i am now a resident of wellington. we live with what i would basically call young hippies. ok, so the girl is vegan and the guy has long hair. and a lot of people in new zealand have a hippie (e.g., santa cruz) vibe about them anyway (i.e., they like to smoke pot and listen to reggae). they're only 21 years old so i guess that makes me feel old or that they are really young when i think about things in comparison. like they weren't even teenagers yet when i moved out of the house to go to university.

we arrived early to move in. we checked out of the hostel as late as possible. check out time is 10am and we checked out just before then. it took us 10 minutes max to walk to the new apartment from the hostel. since we were early, we just hung out outside--it's a secure building and they're sick so we didn't want to bug them and buzz early. one of them was out buying medicine or something because he showed up within 5 minutes and was surprised to see us. i was more surprised to see that they were already up and about.

we unpacked our stuff and put things in the closet. we washed all the linens on the bed. while they were washing, i was really craving a nap. there was some weird wool bed cover thing so we stuffed it in a plastic bag and put that in a dark corner of the closet. i guess i'm starting to feel like i am a normal person living somewhere instead of a backpacking nomad.
