job hunting continued [working]
enjoying my sleep and got a call around 9:30am that another temp job opened up but i have to go interview for it. i said i could be there at 11am. it's not too far from where i live but damn it, i have to shower, get dressed up, and eat.
i have no idea how the interview went. the lady used a lot of phrases and metaphors that i'm not used to hearing. maybe it's a new zealand thing. maybe it's a business world thing. she tried to make jokes or thought what she was saying was funny but true. i tried to laugh along but since i don't work there i don't know what i'm laughing about. she was just someone i couldn't read. at the end she asked if i had any other questions about it and i asked what time would i start on monday. her reply speared me, "that's very presumptuous of you". shit, i guess i didn't get the job then.
then i took my cv down to the cd store and applied. the girl didn't seem very enthusiastic either. great. it's a simple ass application and i wrote that i am only expecting minimum wage and only seeking part-time work on the weekends, which is exactly what they want. i stated that though i don't have retail experience i am really eager to learn the ins and outs of running a cd store because i hope to own my own one day. there was also a question of what is $19.95 minus 10%. easy enough, nz does swedish rounding. the answer is $17.95. when i handed in the form, the girl said, "oh, you did the maths question". i guess people don't normally fill it out? they should be fresh out of school and able to do the math but then again, these are kids applying to work at a cd store.
there was also a question of what 5 cds would you want to have on a deserted island. oh great, a check to see if you listen to the top 10 or top 40 as that's the kind of store it is. i just blanked on popular artists because i don't know the names of their albums so i was honest. maybe the bands i put is too far out for them. my list:
the creatures - "hai!"
system of a down - "toxicity"
jane's addiction - "ritual de lo habitual"
bauhaus - "the bbc session" (i couldn't remember that "swing the heartache" is the title)
plastilina mosh - "aquamosh"
when i got home, twiddle thumbs and i were both hungry for lunch but we didn't have much food. our only choice was to make noodles and we didn't feel like eating noodles again so we walked down the street to the health food store because they sell vegan pies. when we got there, they were sold out on vegan pies. i guess the lunch rush beat us to it. we got some vegan sandwiches that weren't bad and some fruit and nut balls for dessert that were mostly peanut butter and chocolate. they were sooooo good. i should learn to make them.

this plimmer statue makes me think of willy wonka
the shoes twiddle thumbs got are crap and gave her blisters after just a couple hours. so we went and found her another pair to wear. as we were walking home, we noticed that there is a lush store in wellington. i thought that there were 2 in auckland but nowhere else in nz. there was a party atmosphere in the store, with wine, cheese, raffles, discounts, etc. perhaps it just opened. we decided to splurge and get some goodies. now that we have a bathtub after all, might as well got something and take a nice bath.
after that, we made dinner (noodles!) and went grocery shopping. we stocked up on food because from now on we're going to need to get up early, have a good breakfast, and take lunch and snacks with us to work. when i got back, i slightly arranged the fridge. just slightly. by the sheer amount of things we have in there now, it's almost like there are shelves designated to each party but not quite. almost.
