job hunting [working]

originally we were supposed to go to the temp agency friday at 10am but we got the call to come in today at 2pm. looks like we might start working on monday. why else would they call? so we went in and yeah, they have some jobs and things look set for us to start on monday. not the greatest jobs but hey, it's work and work = money.

before that though i printed out my cv on the crappy landlord computer (windows 95!) and sent it off for a job at the japanese embassy. we live very close to the post office so i just bought an envelope and stamp over there. the landlord's printer is filthy. i wouldn't hire me based on the cleanliness of the cv i sent in. i don't think i'll get the job since my work visa expires in december and they probably want someone a lot longer than that but it'd be cool to work at the embassy because it would give me experience at having a government job. one day i might want to work in that sort of field. something to do with japanese international relations. hey, someone has to be the cultural bridge, why not me? am i not the perfect picture of japanese-america cross-cultural relations?

we went to an internet cafe to print out nicer looking cvs and a list of vegetarian restaurants in wellington. while there, i saw an ad for kotahiao.org, a collaborative film project with a global conscious. later at home i reviewed the site and decided i would like to help out and volunteer. i need to gain film work experience so i was looking for something like this and it seems like a good cause and very ambitious effort. they're gonna need all the help they can get.

we walked around cuba street again. trying to get a feel for the area. we had dinner at midnight espresso again. had dinner there monday night. they have vegan food which is nice. they have some very tasty vegan cakes (though nothing comes close to black china bakery in santa cruz). and they are open until 3am which will come in handy i'm sure.

oh and the cleaning didn't last a day. the floors are messy again.
