a day in te anau [traveling]
it was so cold this morning that i just wanted to sleep in. screw taking a shower. i will wait until the cleaners come to clean it. it feels dirty in the bathroom. i just want a nice, warm breakfast. we went to a cafe for a hot chocolate and blueberry pancakes with hash browns. i don't think the pancakes were vegan but fuck man, i really wanted something to eat. there was a rainbow this morning over lake te anau as we left the hostel to the main street in search of breakfast. the warm breakfast was so yummy and nice for a change. i'm so sick of eating the same oatmeal with trail mix.

after breakfast, we had great fun filling out the survey on the hump ridge track for doc. then we walked along the main street browsing the shops. then walked along the lakefront and did some grocery shopping. made a different kind of sandwich for a change. again, good to break the food routine. it's so cold here and i'm not good with the cold. it's the wind that's cold really. cold wind gives me bad headaches.

we decided to go back to the hostel and just stay in. we watched the movies "little nicky" and "lord of the rings: return of the king". it was nice to just veg out for awhile. i only saw "return of the king" in theaters so it was good to refresh my memory and try to get familiar with the scenery. after all, i am amongst it.
