checking out wellington [traveling]

view from our hostel window

slept in a bit because we needed to. twiddle thumbs is sick again. has been for the past few days. i swear this girl has no immunity system. after our late start, we arrived at te papa, the national museum of new zealand, around 11:30am. they only open at 10am anyway. these kiwis like to sleep in too apparently. like kiwi birds though i say this whole place should go nocturnal. it's hard to catch a film past 9pm. i think everyone just drinks.

te papa is big and nice. just like everyone says. finally a place just like how the kiwis describe it! so far, we've heard of places that are big or nice or big and nice, but they never are! you could spend days at the museum. and it's free. nice. some exhibitions require a fee. there are some activities that require a fee. such as whale rider (kiddie ride), simulated jet ski (i did this for $3 and i don't think i'll be doing the real thing), sheering a sheep with a bar code scanner (i did this for $2 and the sheep didn't seem to mind), etc. we saw half of the museum at best. we were getting tired and hungry so we left the museum for the hostel. on the way, saw an organic grocery store. god it was nice to see food you can eat! miracle of miracles. they carry soy cheese. just one though. from australia. it cost an arm. i don't really eat soy cheese but it would be nice to have the option to buy it. finally i have the option. or more like when i live in wellington in winter i will have the option!

we had a very late lunch or early dinner at around 4:30pm. after eating, i decided i seriously needed to go to an internet cafe to do some hardcore bloggin'. skullblog was almost completely updated! then we had a light dinner, then a movie, and now i'm back at the hostel, using my pre-paid internet time to edit around the blog. here you catch me now, skullblog back on track. tomorrow it relapses again whilst i travel the south island. who knows how long it will be until i can catch up. farewell droogies!
