maritime museum [living]

being that today was another public holiday, the day after new year's observed, we went to the national maritime museum. i'm not into this kind of stuff, but i do have an appreciation for it. it would be nice to know how to navigate by the stars, how to use nautical navigational instruments, how to tie various knots, and so forth, but that just seems so beyond me in terms of interests. it must be a boy thing. i went to the museum because i heard that it's a really good maritime museum. i was a bit bored but at least i learned how to tie 2 different kinds of knots! i'm sure this will come in handy sometime down the line.

within the museum, there was some photography on display. i really liked it. it was by chris toal and he called it 'interography' (interactive photography). it was mixed media with the photograph as the main piece and it was surrounded by an irregular canvas or non-traditional placement, then painted around and/or with other objects affixed to it. pretty cool. it was noted that he started to do this because the photographs never really captured what the human eye saw. he felt that interography captures more what the moment was like.

i got an email from my mom today. my college diploma has finally arrived! it only took over half a year for them to send it. she sent me a scan of it. wow, i'm really a graduate now.
