british christmas food [ingesting]
we bought a traditional commonwealth christmas dessert thing. it's a cake that has brandy. it has vegan no-no's but we bent the rules to allow this one thing because it's so foreign to us as americans. we were very curious as to how this tastes. we bought it after christmas so it was very cheap. and we only bought the smallest one we could find plus it had the fewest amount of vegan no-no's--just skim milk powder and egg whites. we split it with a flatmate. it was too sweet for me. i haven't been missing anything all these years.
another totally commonwealth thing we tried a few weeks back was vegemite. utter crap. they say americans hate it because we put too much on our toast. honey, i barely put any. i spread it on so thin because i didn't want too much and do an american overspread and also because i was afraid of it. i had every reason to be. it was so gross. i'm not going to try marmite. it's probably the same crap, just a different name due to being from a different brand. it's a yeast spread. who wants to just eat yeast? damn poms.
