traversing the harbor [living]

today we had a bit of an excursion. we met with a friend of a friend of a friend sort of thing. she was really nice, giving. she drove us over to devonport and we got an excellent view of auckland harbor at the top of mt. victoria reserve. now i know where all those lovely postcard shots were taken! while in devonport, we visited a gallery and i noticed works by 2 artists i thought were interesting. one of them was garry currin. there was a melancholy to his pieces that i really liked. haunting. the other was carla franks, a woman with a bit of an eclectic background. her pieces on display i thought would work really well in an empty, minimalist, predominantly white sort of room. now that i'm settled, i need to get out more and check out all the art happenings.
