the incredibles [watching]
we returned to our regularly scheduled friday night movie night after we were interrupted last week by our rush to catch the ferry to waiheke. we watched "the incredibles", on the mega screen of course. wow! what a great film. sooooo funny. i thought i wouldn't like craig t. nelson voicing mr. incredible but as long as you don't have to watch him act, it's great. elastigirl holly hunter has a strange voice/accent/thing going on. at first twiddle thumbs thought it was joan cusack. i wasn't sure. i was waiting for the credits. i knew immediately that samuel jackson was voicing frozone. i was waiting for the credits to learn who voiced mirage and edna mode. goddamn i loved edna. i think i laughed the most during her scenes.
what i really liked about the film was the basic plot. taking the idea of the super hero into the modern, lawsuit happy america. the idea that super heroes have to live 24-7 as their tame alter ego, as a regular person. that the heroes have to be relocated in a hero protection program. i also really enjoyed all the high-tech gadget/super spy sort of thing that was happening. i was imagining how much those things would have cost in real life and it was so mind boggling that i just stopped thinking about it, sat back and enjoyed the animation. in a real life action film, i am not into the gadgetry super spy thing, which is probably why i never got into james bond and all that. but this, this was different. this was cool.
the incredibles were incredible. another film where as i was watching it, i was thinking that i gotta get the dvd. right after the film, i was thinking that if pixar keeps making such great films, my dvd collection will have more animation in it than anything else. keep it up guys.
