...and well deserved, i say. today is christmas observed. since it fell on the weekend, new zealanders have today off.

3 days of sunshine in a row. i'm not even wearing a jacket to walk the streets. it is officially summer!

today we hunted for a laundrette AKA laundrymat. (it seems like 'laundromat' over here is more of a dry cleaner.) one that is open for business. it was quite difficult, actually. we ended up going to the laundrymat across the street from the first place we were living at. it was very crowded. perhaps the other customers too had made a pilgrimage to this laundrymat. later on, we saw a laundrymat much closer to the apartment that was open. damn, from now on we'll go there! the only reason we're even going to the laundrymat is because we can't use the dryer at the apartment without paying significantly more for electricity. i figure it will be much cheaper to just do laundry at a laundrymat.
