no warning labels on books [thinking]

entertainment in america is reviewed and rated. "for our protection". for our protection?! so children don't accidentally see a penis, god forbid. movies have ratings. tv shows have ratings. music has parental warning labels. these denote how much of the content is filled with mature topics such as sex and violence. but not books. books do not have a rating system. why? because no one reads in america. you don't need to censor books because no one fucking reads!

some are afraid of a "1984" world where technology is used to monitor our lives and we have no idea what is really going on in the world because the media is completely controlled by the government. as brilliant a read as it may be, the message of warning will not be spread if no one reads. i like to ask people if they prefer "1984" or "brave new world". the sad thing is not getting a reply of the person has not read both books so they cannot compare them, or worse that they have not even read either book, the sad thing is when the person replies that they have not heard of those titles and did not even know that they are books! "brave new world" has won. people are much too occupied with soma and feelies to notice little else in this world.
