america is the only first world nation without national health care [screaming]

what a long day. this morning twiddle thumbs and i tried to go to a clinic to get an immunization shot. we've been trying to get all of them done for awhile now. some require a series of shots. earlier, just before our health insurance ran out, we tried to get #2 in a series of 3 but we were refused by the clinic because we were not officially assigned to that clinic. we had made an address change with the health care provider and requested the new clinic but it wasn't showing up officially in the computer yet. by the time it does show up officially, we won't have insurance. they could see us as walk-in patients, but that would cost a lot of money because all new patients must see the doctor first. all we need is a fucking shot! this is preventative medicine! i don't want to rant and rave on it but AMERICA'S HEALTH CARE SYSTEM FUCKING SUCKS EVEN IF YOU HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE!!!

i was so pissed about it that i didn't write about it. but today, it happened again. we went to a cheap clinic and they don't do immunizations so they gave us a list of other clinics and circled which ones do immunizations. we went to the closest one and they told us the same "must see a doctor first" bullshit. look lady, i only want a shot. that's it. i know exactly what i need. i can pay for the shot in cash. i don't need to see a doctor. i've been this year already. nothing is wrong with me. this is preventative medicine! but no, the health care industry doesn't want you to be healthy! they only want kids to get immunizations because that's the fucking state law. adults should get sick. that way we can make lots of money off of them when they seek health care. i don't even want a fucking flu shot. i want a standard thing that you have stockpiles of. not the flu shot...

that was not the conversation though. we tried calling another place. they only immunize minors under 18! they referred us to a place that immunizes for travel. yes, thank god! we are going to be traveling. just don't tell them where you're going! if they only give country specific shots, we're fucked. say you're going to the african congo!!!

the travel shot people do walk-ins daily. you don't have to see a doctor. hallelujah! we're going to try to do this immunization thing tomorrow. the clinic better not change their story. or else!

later in the day i saw a girl wearing a ucsc sweater so i had to ask her why she was wearing that. i never see anyone with ucsc gear down in LA. she didn't answer me right away when i asked her about it, maybe too shocked. maybe she didn't even know what she was wearing. so i quickly tried to make it ok and told her i graduated from there and nobody wears ucsc clothes around here. she started laughing and was able to mutter that it's her brother's friend's sweater. hmm... strange. so did your brother steal it from his friend and you stealed it from your brother?
