this weekend's roadtrip: the grand canyon [traveling]

my mom and boyfriend & twiddle thumbs and i are off on a road trip to the grand canyon. i think the last time i went was when i was about 8-10 years old and twiddle thumbs has never been there. not only is the grand canyon a spectacular place (it is a natural wonder after all), but it's not that far from LA so how can you grow up/live within 1 day's drive and pass up the opportunity to go at least once in your life?

we went in my mom's boyfriend's car. it's a lincoln navigator and it's perfect for road trips! it's roomy, comfy, has a cd player and tv, etc. nice. i like it. it also has a sunroof and my mom wanted to check it out put sticking out her head!

my mom, "now i know how dogs feel"

we made pretty good time to flagstaff, arizona and looked into 3 motels all next door to each other and checked into a days inn. while looking at the motels, we picked up some brochures of things to do in the area and found out there's a restaurant called casa bonita nearby. i died laughing because of a south park episode that featured the boys going to a crazy restaurant called casa bonita. crazy because there were cliff divers, etc. we had to go!

there were about 3 different vegetarian burritos at casa bonita so that's what i had. we passed by a natural foods store but it was closed. when we got back to the motel, i discovered that wireless internet is included! woohoo! i wonder if all the days inns are like this now? it'd be great to have internet access each night in the room. i tried to find out about casa bonita. i thought maybe it's a chain and south park exaggerated the one that the boys went to. nope. the casa bonita the boys went to is in denver and it's huge. they really do have cliff divers!
