my registration card

i voted today. first time. there's early voting going on in los angeles county and you can go to any one of the open voting polls if you're a resident of los angeles county. the last time i tried to vote was in 1996 and it was the only time i tried. it was the first time i was eligible in a presidential year so i went to the polls. i was denied based on my home address. you are assigned a poll according to your address, but i didn't know where my assigned poll was. it was at a park or a church in santa cruz and i don't know where the hell any of those are because i didn't grow up in santa cruz. so i went to the poll on campus. i stood in line and when i reached the front, they told me the bad news and by then it was too late for me to find my assigned poll. that's when i said, fuck the voting system! up until then, i fully believed in america and voting. after that, things started falling apart. 4 years later when bush II got into office, i heard it was snowing in hell.

total time waiting in line and voting took about 90 minutes. i voted extremely fast. i did my homework damn it! i knew exactly what i was voting for. i was in and out quicker than anyone else that i saw. i went with my mom and twiddle thumbs. i did my homework because twiddle thumbs and i had to explain the issue to my mom. there's a lot of things in regards to the government and voting that most americans probably don't know the fine details about. my mom would ask questions relating to this and i would say that i don't know the exact details but it's something like this. my mom would get pissed so i would do my homework, find out the fine details, then explain it to her. several times. until she got some idea. american voting system is really complicated and stupid. we didn't learn from our popular vs. electoral mistake of 2000. it still hasn't changed. i feel like bush I is getting revenge by putting bush II in office. tied into that revenge is achieving what bush I never did: 'getting' saddam hussein and winning the re-election.
