a day without a mexican [watching]
this morning we spent a couple hours loading stuff into storage with twiddle thumbs's brother and their dad. when we first unloaded the truck, i was thinking how messy this would be. i didn't know if everything would fit, but it went pretty smoothly. pretty much everything that is supposed to go into storage was already in the truck so that all went into storage. some things were in twiddle thumbs's dad's minivan so those items are at their house. i'll have to go back for those later. then i returned the truck. i rented from penske and i just have to take a moment out to praise them. all these years i've been using u-haul but i never will again. they've always had poor service and poor trucks. penske is wonderful.
in the evening, we went to go see "a day without a mexican" at the cheap theater. when i first heard about this movie months ago, i was excited by the concept. tonight i was disappointed with the execution. i thought the film was going to be much funnier because the web site was full of humor. it was just lukewarm cheese. felt more like a first draft of a script. i also thought the mystical fog alternate universe stuff was unnecessary. it lowered the power/credibility of the film. too bad. i thought this film would be a serious political blow but it felt more like a primer for the unaware. i hope it does at least that but it didn't get enough publicity to do even that i think. it just seems like the only ones going to see it are already aware.
