life without cable [watching]

now and then, i turn on the tv and try to watch something but it's always god awful. i have 2 channels that come in on a good day, 3 on a rare day. but all of the channels are distorted and snowy to a degree so there's usually only 1 channel i can actually watch without messing up my eyes. due to this lack of choice, i've seen some pretty horrible shows and i can only wonder, 'who in the hell watches this crap?!' seriously...

"everybody hates raymond", "that 70s crap", etc. these aren't shows that were cancelled during their first season. they're fucking in syndication! who the hell signed the contracts? it's not funny! do not renew! who watches it? people without cable? alright, i live in a place where there are things to do. so maybe if you are in the of nowhere and you only get 1 channel, maybe you'd watch it. but how many of those people can they be? and how important are they to the networks? even in the middle of nowhere, you can amuse yourself! it's got to be better than watching these shows.

the only value i can see in these crap shows is that they provide me with a new way of sussing out people. all i have to do is ask if they like any of those shows. if they say yes, then i walk away. pure and simple. anyone who likes that crap is definitely not someone i want to know.

ok, there is another benefit. nothing worth watching on tv means you won't waste away in front of the tv. you get shit done. unless of course you have a dvd player and subscribe to netflix. guilty. hey, i'm catching up on all the shit i missed out on. while i was a film major, i didn't watch films! hahahaaa
