caltech - calavera institute of technology [geeking]

tonight i gave my first lesson to a friend regarding html/web design. she knows the bare bones but needs to know a little bit more for her job. she and other friend would also like to learn how to do some stuff with photoshop and programs we have to use in our jobs, such as filemaker and office programs, (we all work for the university). so later on when the html stuff is done, twiddle thumbs and i will teach basics of these other programs and a few tricks/tips. teaching is one of the best ways to learn. it forces you to review what you know and expand possibilities. it teaches you patience and how to present things clearly. for me, my past work is my crutch. i can always turn to it to remember how to do something. i find that if you don't do something just about every other day, you easily forget exactly how to do it. and of course for computer skills, what you know and are capable of may change with the next 'upgrade'.
