radtech is well, rad! [geeking]

for protection of my new babies, i ordered several things from radtech. first of all, i didn't want my oily fingers to get all over the place and ruin the display so i got the notebook screensavrz. it's very soft and nice, a kind of microfiber. you can wet it and use it to clean the screen but i am still very hesitant on bringing water near the laptop. to protect the rest of the laptop from scratches, i also got the powersleevz, a thin case made out of the same microfiber as the screensaver. at first, putting it on was really tight, but now that i've had it for awhile, it slides on and off quite easily, but it's not too loose that it falls off. it's just right. i had seen these two type of products from another company but in the end i chose the ones from radtech because they were significantly cheaper and could double as a cleaner when wet.

i didn't want the ipod to go without protection so i got it the podsleevz. this is the product that i debated over the most. i looked at many ipod casings online and a few in person. i just didn't like what i saw at all. i wanted something clear so that i could see through to the beauty of the ipod, but i wanted it tough enough that it would protect the ipod from scratches. i didn't want cut out holes for the button controls because i didn't want them to get clogged with oil and residue from dirty hands. in the end, i decided to get a black podsleevz because it was cheap, it covered the buttons, and i was already ordering a few things from radtech anyway. this was very *tight* to get on but let me say that it's well worth it. i haven't tried to remove it and i don't want to because there is no need to. the ipod is well protected from scratches, the microfiber feels great, the buttons are protected and the fiber is thin enough that i can press the controls without a hitch. i read one review that said the podsleevz looked too homemade (i.e., cheap), like a cozy, and that made me hesitant to buy it, but i don't feel that way at all about it. at first, yeah i could see the cozy comment, but after using it for awhile now, no way--this thing's great!

one of the most important things i will need when traveling is a secure way to transport the laptop. i DO NOT want a single shoulder strap as those really really REALLY strain my neck/shoulder muscles. i have one bag like that already that i love and even though i hardly carry anything in it, it causes me great pains. it looks great but it's not right for me. there is a backpack bag available on apple's web site and i have tried it out in person at an apple store, but it's just so damn expensive. i am broke from buying the goods and so i need inexpensive yet high quality protection. it would be nice if there was a bit of room for me to also store an emergency set of clothes. i've looked at other backpacks designed specifically to fit powerbooks and they're great, but still too expensive for me. when i read the specs for the sports series backpack by stm, i just about died--it seemed perfect. it fits powerbooks, it has a lot of pockets, very cool padded/suspended laptop compartment, ergonomic design, water resistant, music player compartment with headphone portal, rubber handle for hand carrying, pocket for food/beverage, and perhaps nicest of all, it doesn't look like it houses a laptop. i haven't fully stuffed it, but it does seem like it will hold my stuff and do the job well. i really like the handle and shoulder straps--it's very comfortable and sturdy. the suspended laptop compartment isn't as suspended as a i thought it would be, but i'm not complaining. this is an excellent backpack for half the cost of other powerbook backpacks. i still haven't tested how water resistant the material is 'cos i'm just not keen on bringing water close to my laptop!

the products from radtech are all aces!
