i don't like mondays [living]

after work i went to the library to borrow some cds. the library is great for checking out things i don't normally buy, such as soundtracks and classical music. i also got a video on david cope, very cool. (i took a workshop led by him last summer.) after that i went to a couple of bookshops 'cos i had some gift certificates.

while i was at the capitola book cafe, this was this crazy ass bitch. i swear she sounded just like sharon osbourne--you know how all british sound the same--but she was very santa cruz hippy into astrology-signs-tea that sort of vibe. she was some sort of spiritual author and was giving a presentation on her new book. she kept going on and on about the four basic types of people--air, water, fire, earth. now it's fine to classify people into basic personality types, i think most of us can agree there are definite templates out there. but to classify them using earth elements or star signs, etc., that just doesn't jive with me. then she mentioned a fifth sign--sulphur. she described it as being very dark, someone who doesn't want to progress into the light. every time she said "the dark side", i felt like she was talking about darth vader! i wanted to shout, "use the force luke!" i don't know, it was just very weird for me to be there listening to her talk as i was trying to find books on mac os x hacks, new zealand, or mayan ruins in the yucatan area. i looked up the author, her name is rosemary altea.
