the un-incredible shit [watching]

i netflixed "the hulk". what a piece of shit. why isn't there a decent comic turned film? why are they always ruined by film? comics turn into decent cartoons, tv shows, but not films... *sigh* maybe i need to read the original comics. maybe the films rings something true to them. i fucking hated batman, spiderman, etc. the only one that i thought was alright was superman, and maybe i only liked it 'cos i saw it as a child so i hardly had a critical eye. i just feel like a lot of the comics turned into film put too much emphasis on character establishment, explaining how the superhero came into being, and so forth. we the audience already the basic shit, so give us some fucking adventure, not just let's see how much money we can spend on special effects! or in the case of hulk, let's see the inner turmoil and how banner copes with being the hulk. nope, it was jekyll/hyde without the anguish.

i probably was about halfway through the film when i started squirming because it was so bad. i was glad i didn't see it in theaters because i think i would have walked out. (i felt the same way when i rented "independence day".) i almost turned off the film and returned it without finishing it. that is really rare for me. no matter how bad a film, i usually finish it, hence i finished "the hulk". i only give thumbs up to the editing transitions and split screens. they worked hard on those to give the comic book effect and i loved it, but i would have preferred much more comic book stylings, a bit more like how the intro credits were handled, or like how in "creepshow", the scenes transition from a comic start/end.
