mark, kyle, or clark [watching]
tonight i watched "willard". i liked the darkness of the film. the sets and costumes added to it. visually, i thought the film worked. however, there was something lacking overall in the story. i thought it would have been interesting for willard to develop some sort of relationship with cathryn (or someone else), the rats hurting/killing that person, and willard then dealing with that. also, i think the cruelty of the boss was over-written. it wasn't necessary--it took away from the film. towards the end, i was surprised to see that when cathryn was in the bathroom, the rats did not attack her. knowing that the rats wanted revenge, i don't understand why willard would have run back into the house to avoid the police. once in the house, i don't understand why when he was trying to escape, why did he try to go through a window with bars on it, rather than go through the front door. i can gloss over these things but i think the last few minutes of the film were completely unnecessary. once ben attacks willard, that's it. i don't think the story needs to continue from that point.
