looking out for number one [screaming]
the customer service of my bank is going downhill. i have a CD (certificate of deposit--just think savings account) that matured without any notice being mailed to me. this happened last year as well. i made sure that my address was updated using the online banking system. i telephoned customer service and they said that my new address applied to my checking account, but my CD still has the old info and i have to be sure to update all address. THAT IS SUCH BULLSHIT!!! there is nothing on their site about updating an address for each account. there's just one update address form. it seems universal. i spoke to one rep who blew me off to another, who then told me i have to resolve this in person at my bank. but, that rep said he would update the address for the CD so i gave him the correct address.
immediately after work i went to the bank and the lady i spoke with was very rude. she didn't want to listen/bargain, she immediately wanted to charge me fines to modify my CD. she told me to go to a teller to pull up my account info and she'd be there shortly. i talked to the teller--he was very nice and was willing to work with me. he allowed me to close out my CD without any fines. he looked up my address info and the fucking old address was still there! that first bitch never showed up to work things out. fuck them! fuck washington mutual.
it's not the bank's fault that my CD is earning at a shit rate. (FUCK BUSH!) but i'm so tired of not making any money on it. for years it was auto-maturing on what i later learned was a bad rate. it was opened up when my dad died because of his insurance policy. this is blood money. this is my dad's life in the account. it's his gift to me. i will not let people fuck with it! when i came of age and got control over the account, i kept it at the same bank, but changed it to a modern account with a better interest rate. even the bank rep was shocked at how poor the rate was on it. cut to a couple years later....now all that's gone to shit.
i moved over my checking account from bank of america to home savings years ago because was i sick and tired of getting ripped off with bogus charges. about two years later, home savings was bought out by washington mutual. at first, my checking account was fine but about 1 year ago, they upgraded my free checking to an account that i have to pay monthly fees for, "for my convenience". the wording on the letter was something like that. such fucking bullshit. i thought i'd try out the upgraded account but was too lazy to ever downgrade it back to free checking--actually, i'm not sure i can. i am so annoyed with washington mutual for this because their image, their ad campaign has been all about no bullshit fees for banking. SUCH LIARS!
i'm going to hit all the banks in town and move my money to somewhere better.

I agree!! Fuck Washington Mutual!!!! Free checking my ass. They've slammed me with more fees in the last six months than I've had in over 10 years of banking with B of A and my credit union combined. I've found the tellers in the branches and on the phone to be of no help whatsoever and they refuse to reverse any fees for any reason. I'm going back to my credit union for good. Adios wamu.
