river made to drown in [watching]

besides "may", i also netflixed "river made to drown in" because james duval is in it. i think this film had a lot of potential due to those involved, (james merendino, richard chamberlain, ute lemper), but somehow it fell flat on its face. i attribute a lot of it to the writing--it seemed more like a draft. i felt like the post-production (editing and soundtrack) tried hard with the available material to put together a film that was unfinished, as if it was trying to conceal parts of the film that were lacking. i was a bit annoyed with the overuse of crane camera work. for me it seemed to take away from the performance of the actors because we can only see the tops of their heads. when the film ended, i was left thinking, "that's it?"
