new jersey joins in... [thinking]

...but they leave almost as quickly as they joined. apparently new jersey law doesn't gender specifically dictate what marriage is, just between adults, so a gay couple in asbury park filed for a license last friday. after the appropriate waiting period for that state, (three days), they received the license on monday. word spread, others lined up, the powers that be got pissed off, and now it's over.

my friend said that there's talk here in santa cruz of licenses for same sex couples as well. it doesn't surprise me but what did surprise me was that the friend also saw a very anti-gay marriage vehicle driving around campus. with so many people on this campus gay, including in high positions such as the chancellor, it was a surprising sight.
