may [watching]

i netflixed "may" because james duval has a small part in it and the description i read about it intrigued me (a modern take on "frakenstein). at first the film was kind of funny and i was wondering where the frankenstein/horror bit would come into play. that stuff all took part in about the last 30 minutes. i thought there were a couple of things about the movie that needed some tightening up, but other than that it was alright.

naturally the lead character may (angela bettis) is eccentric. angela did a great job portraying her. the character of polly (anna faris), i felt, was even more over the top but it was downplayed, (either by some defects in the script or key scenes simply cut out of the film), leaving what remained of the character a bit awkward. the part of adam (jeremy sisto) was this nice guy with a little creepiness in there somewhere, but the exterior hid it completely. as jeremy also plays a creepy character in "six feet under" (brenda's brother billy), i think it added to adam's strange mystique. jimmy's part was extremely small. i had issues with the hair--it made the character too ridiculous to follow, but it is in line with the outrageous aspects of the film. i'm just tired of how punks are portrayed in movies. i thought "slc punk" did an excellent job in portraying punks.
