frequent driver miles [watching]
i had lunch with twiddle thumbs, my brother, my mom and her boyfriend at souplantation. it's a soup/salad buffet thing quite similar to fresh choice. my mom is the queen of buffets. i'm not into buffets at all. i usually starve at any sort of buffet or pot luck thing.
we drove back today. like the last trip, i drove all the way down and all the way back up. i'm racking up miles. today we did about 380 miles in a little over 6 hours, including pit stops.
got back in time to catch the rebroadcast of the debut episode of "the l word". it's not bad. i feel like the issues it addressed are cliché but almost every show on tv is tired. whenever there are few shows of any given category, a new one is open to much criticism. what needs to be addressed is not the individual show, (one show cannot be all things to all people), but that there needs to be more of them (variety is the spice of life). this has been the case with all non-wasp shows. remember what happened way back in the day when "amos 'n' andy" first aired? or how about more recent times. since "all american girl", has there really been an asian-american show? i thought "the l word" handled the issues it presented quite well and i was really impressed by jennifer beals's performance. i am looking forward to the progression of the series.
when i was a kid, i had a hamster i named frances (or francis?) and i thought it was after the film "flashdance". i thought there would be a jennifer beals connection. however, i just looked up the character names and it looks like there wasn't anyone named frances so i must've named it after something else. to help clarify things, i looked up the release date of "flashdance": april 15, 1983. i know where i was living in april 1983 and i definitely had the hamster before then. i'm really disappointed now because my memory is corrupted--i was sure that i had named the hamster after "flashdance".
