hisashiburi! my old friend michiyo wrote to me today. i couldn't believe it, of all people. i haven't heard from her in 6 years. we first started writing to each other in 1990 or 1991 because of our mutual love of buck-tick. i think it was in 1992 that her high school had a senior trip to america and i got to hang out with her at disneyland. in 1997 she took another trip to america and stayed with me. we had such a great time. mostly i had to act as translator but it felt like she communicated well with everyone regardless. she had so much fun that she actually cried at the airport when it was time for her to return home.

my picture is online at my work's web site and she somehow found it and wrote to me. she doesn't have a computer, but like many japanese, she has a cellphone with a camera and email capabilities. so she sent me this picture of her.
