people are stupid [living]

i received such a hilarious email from my aunt regarding my cousins that i have to share it. i will conceal some information to hide the stupid.

"Did you know that -cousin1-, -cousin2- and -cousin1-'s boyfriend are moving to California? They leave -far-away-cold-state- on -some-date- and think that they can make it in three days. They are also taking the Northern route. Apparently I am too stupid to recognize the brilliance of their plan. I think they must really think that I a moron for pointing out that California is lagging behind the country in economic recovery and that our cost of living is much higher. They were unhappy paying $600 a month for a three bedroom. I'm not sure what they think that they will pay here."

HAHAHAHHAHA!! northern route in the winter? $600 is too much for a THREE bedroom! i have lived in santa cruz for nine years and $600 has never even afforded me ONE bedroom! i would kill for the kind of rent they pay. but then again, there's probably nothing to do where they live and it's ridiculously cold. at least now i know that if i ever want to get away from it all or have a house all to myself to shoot a film, i can go to where they live.

it's really funny to me to think of my cousins as not being "in the know", california-style, because all of their parents were born and grew up in LA. as their children grew though, many decided to become country bumpkins. (name a hick state and i probably have a relative there. you know, places where people actually listen to country music.) so i have tons of cousins that i remember living in california as a kid, but now they are grown and not too city-smart. this could've happened to me 'cos as a kid we moved to a small town, but 1 month later my dad died so i was shipped back to LA, thank god. later on, you could say my own move to this town is similar, but i am still in california and though i have learned a lot about calm and patience, etc. from being in a small town setting, at heart i am still very LA.

my aunt also said that my 13 year old cousin is now 6'2". i'm sorry but i don't talk to people that will cause me neck strain. it looks like i will have to get some stilts for the holidays!
