Named after a frequented restaurant, four college students with a shared love began a band that they would later describe as a horrible version of The Smiths. Soon they began to create an interesting blend of wit of vocalist Ruben Albarran, acoustic guitar of Joselo Rangel, his brother Enrique 'Quique' Rangel on traditional upright bass, and drum machines/keyboards/melodian of Emmanuel 'Meme' del Real. Their 3rd album was comprised entirely of covers. Their 4th album, Reves/Yosoy, was an ambitious double album: one disc was more traditional songs with vocals and the other disc was of neo musique concrete exploratorive audioscapes. Their 5th album was a return to pop music, while still retaining their tradition of non-traditional blends.

The vocalist changes his name with each release, sometimes even more frequently than that, and some of the monikers he has used include Juan, Cosme, Anonimo, Nru, El Gallo Gas, and Sizu Yantra. Guitarist Joselo has dabbled in a solo career. The band also has an E.P. of covers as well as live albums. They have also appeared on such compilations as Juntos Por Chiapas, the 'Silence = Death' AIDS benefit series (Red Hot and Latin), tribute album for José José, and the soundtracks for Amores Perros and Y Tu Mama Tambien. Die hard completists would be hard-pressed to find the Diciembre 25 holiday LP which the band contributed a track to.

Live Factor: Simply amazing and not to be missed. It's a marvel how much honest energy can be unleashed from a non-electronica band without a live drummer, though they sometimes do hire a live drummer. A traditional folk player has been a staple in their live shows ever since their 3rd album.
