| May is about to leave China and become an exchange student in Los Angeles. At LAX's parking lot she encounters a homeless man. | |

| On the ride to their exchange family homes, the students discuss their hopes, only to have those crushed by the surroundings of South Central. | |
 |
 |
| They are lost and scared. Only May is brave enough to ask for directions. | |
 |
 |
| After some miscommunication, May finally arrives at her host family's home, only she is too afraid to get out of the van. | |
 |
 |
| It appears there was a mistake and May is at the wrong house but the problem cannot be cleared for a few days so everyone makes best of the situation. | |
 |
 |
| Tracy teaches May how to walk. Later May wakes up crying because she's not used to sirens. | |
